Congratulations on choosing the best bed liner system
on the market! Please READ and FOLLOW the instructions below to
insure a successful job. Black tint is standard; colors other than
white, silver or gold can be made by your local paint supplier or
are available from us at an additional charge
Applied correctly a 1.5 gallon kit will cover a 6 foot
bed and a 3 gallon kit will cover an 8 foot bed depending on
application technique.
If you receive a large kit, mix up half of it at a time as it will set
up in the bucket before you can spray it if you mix all of it up at
one time.
Mixing ratios are as follows:
1 Part A + 1 Part B + 1 Quart Reducer
+ 1 Pot of Tint (if Black kit you will also mix 1 Quart Rubber –
Colored Bedliners do not include rubber as it will change the color)
Please read warning labels on the cans!
Extra lacquer thinner not
included with kit for cleaning guns after spraying. thinner
available at local paint or hardware stores.

1. This kit was
designed to be sprayed with an undercoater gun that screws on to your
reducer can or we have hopper guns (texture guns) available for sale
for those larger jobs. Have the following items ready: undercoater gun
or hopper gun, air supply (recommend 5HP compressor or larger only),
clean rags, 2.5 gallon bucket, silicone spray (WD-40), 36 grit
sandpaper, masking tape, masking paper, mixing sticks, degreaser,
funnel, extra reducer or thinner for cleaning gun and respirator |
 |
2. Prepare the bed by cleaning out any dirt and
grease by sweeping out the bed and using a degreaser to wipe down
the bed. |
 |
3.
Use masking tape
to tape off the area to be sprayed. At this time you will want to
remove the tailgate and place on a flat surface taping/papering off
any areas not to be sprayed. |
 |
4.
Scuff
and sand the bed/tailgate with 36 grit sandpaper.
5.
Use
air supply to blow out any dust. |
 |
6.
Wipe the area with a rag wet with degreaser.
7. Mask the
entire truck with paper and/or plastic. DON’T LEAVE ANY AREAS
EXPOSED!
8.
Make sure your air
supply is dry by draining the tank |
|
Keep
in mind that this product sets up in approximately 30 to 45 minutes,
thus the reason for splitting the mixture. |
 |
9.
Spray the 2.5 gallon bucket with the silicone.
10.
Mix in the
bucket Part A, Part B, reducer, tint and the rubber until the mix is
consistent. RUBBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN COLORED BEDLINERS AS IT
WILL CHANGE THE COLOR. DO NOT USE A DRILL TO MIX |
|
11. Fill
the can that the reducer was in using a funnel with the mixture.
THIS MIXTURE WILL SET UP IN 30 TO 45 MINUTES! BE PREPARED TO SPRAY
IMMEDIATELY!
12.WE RECOMMEND USING A 5 HORSE POWER COMPRESSOR
OR GREATER. RATTLEGUARD WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PRODUCT APPLIED
WITH A SMALLER COMPRESSOR. Start with 60 pounds of pressure and
adjust to get the texture you desire. If you have trouble spraying
even after adjusting the pressure, loosen the gun from the can! This
indicates a vacuum problem and lack of air pressure. If the problem
continues, remove the gun from the can and fill another container with
straight reducer and spray it through the gun to clean it out. You may
finish the bedliner job by spraying out of an open container but be
careful to use two hands and don’t spill the product out of the can.
When spraying a colored bedliner with no rubber, adjust your air
pressure to get the desired texture. |
 |
13.
Get in the bed
and begin spraying your way out. Spray all the angles facing the cab
first. DO NOT TRY TO BUILD THE PRODUCT AT THIS POINT! The
first coat is simply to cover the bed/tailgate.
|
 |
14.
After the entire area is
covered, look at the bed closely and spray any areas that you might
have missed. |
 |
15. Spray
the tailgate, wheel wells and tail end of the bed with any extra
product - this is your second coat. This is the time to build your
product. |
 |
16.
After spraying,
IMMEDIATELY remove all of your tape and masking materials. Do not
allow the product to get wet before it has had time to dry! Drying
time will vary greatly with the temperature. If possible, pull the
truck out into the direct sun or under heat lamps. In ideal conditions
the truck will dry to the touch in less than 2 hours, in 48 hours your
bedliner is cured and ready to work! |
|
17. Clean your undercoating gun with lacquer
thinner (not provided) immediately to prevent the product from
hardening in the gun.
18.
You should be able to peel the product out
of the mixing bucket the next day. |
And that's it!
Your
new bed liner will need approximately 72 hours to cure before heavy usage
but should be dry to the touch within hours.
How to care for your new bedliner
1.
For the first 24 hours do not allow the bedliner to get wet
(rain, washing, heavy dew) or use it for anything.
2.
After drying (24 hours) you can use your bedliner for light duty
(groceries, etc)
3.
After 72 hours cure time, you should be able to use your bedliner
for more heavy usage.
4.
When washing, use a soap that does not contain a wax. Wax will
settle into the uneven surface of the bedliner and cause it to look
chalky. Just like when you don’t wipe all the wax off your vehicles
painted surface. The best way to care for your bedliner is to use a mild
soap and spray it off. You can also use an AmorAll type lubricant to
keep up the shine.
Thanks again for your decision to install
a spray in bedliner and we hope you enjoy your new bedliner
